Facelift

Face Rhitidectomy

Age, stress, sun damage, (smoking) and loss of facial volume result in laxity of the skin around the face. When chemical peels, Botox Cosmetic, and Injectable fillers are not enough, a Facelift can help. A Facelift is designed to elevate the facial tissues over the cheek bone, improving the jowls of the lower face, and smooth the lines and restore the contours of the neck.

This operation is performed under general anesthesia at Renaissance Plastic Surgery, and patients are kept overnight for close observation. (safety first) The operation involves an incision in front of and behind the ears. Some may require an incision under the chin as well. Not only is the skin tightened in a more natural, more vertical direction, but the deep soft tissues of the face are re-positioned in order to highlight the cheekbones and diminish the creases alongside the nose and mouth. The muscles of neck are also tightened creating a more youthful appearance.

Sutures are removed from the face/chin 7 to 10 days. Staples (behind the ear in the hairline) are removed in 2 weeks. You will have a drain in overnight as well as a turban dressing, but those are removed prior to discharge the next day. In 48 hours, you may wash your hair using your normal skin/hair products. It is also advised to sleep elevated for the first week.

Some clients only need a mid face lift (addresses cheeks and nasolabial folds) or a cervicoplasty (addresses the jowls and the neck area). The post op care is the same as with a Facelift. These procedures are less time under anesthesia and may be done on an out patient basis.
