Mastopexy (Breast Lift)

Age, gravity, pregnancy, and fluctuations in weight can result in sagging or drooping of the breasts.  A mastopexy can restore a more youthful or “perky” appearance to the breasts by uplifting and reshaping sagging breasts.  This operation alone does not increase the size of the breasts, but can be combined with a breast augmentation to correct loss of volume.

Mastopexies are performed under general anesthesia in our private operative suite at Renaissance Plastic Surgery on an outpatient basis.  The surgical technique used depends on the amount of ptosis, or sagging.  An incision is made around the nipple areolar complex and straight down to the lower part of the breast, with or without an incision that extends horizontally along the crease underneath the breasts.  The breast is moved higher on the chest wall, an enlarged nipple areolar complex may be reduced and elevated into a more aesthetically pleasing position, and the breast takes on a more rounded, fuller appearance.
